2008-10-27 | Eminem reveals roots in new memoir | Eminem's new memoirs, The Way I Am, have produced an interesting explanation for the hip-hop star's trademark peroxide locks.
In the newly released book, the rapper, real name Marshall Mathers III, explains that his choice of hair colour was the result of an intoxicated trip to a drugstore.
He explains: "I wasn't thinking that the peroxide thing was going to be my look.
"I was just being stupid on drugs."
The memoirs also tackle the death of good friend, and former D12 bandmate, Proof, as well as a unique insight into his relationship with music.
He writes: "Rap is one big fantasy island. It's the place I always retreat to when things get too hectic in real time."
